Alexey Yuryevich Shubin

A practising interventional radiologist since 2004 and head of the Department of Interventional Radiology and Endovascular Treatment at Yoshkar-Ola City Clinical Hospital. Every day he performs coronary and vascular interventions and provides emergency care for heart attack and stroke. Clinical experience underpins physician education, simulation practice, professional communities, and medical media.

The projects grew out of clinical practice

In the cath lab, decisions are made in minutes and techniques change faster than textbooks. Physicians need current materials, safe rehearsal of interventions, and colleagues to discuss difficult cases.

From this foundation came three projects: for knowledge, simulation practice, and professional dialogue.

VRM Clab

VR practice and results review.

A physician completes a clinical scenario in a VR simulator, while the platform records the session. Decisions, timing and errors become a structured case for result review with colleagues and mentors.

I organise and run medical interviews, reports, masterclasses and digital conferences, including events with international speakers. I work independently, with my own equipment — from developing the format to releasing the material.

Physician, department head, builder of a professional environment

I have worked in interventional radiology since 2004. I head the department of interventional radiology and endovascular treatment at the Regional Vascular Centre of Yoshkar-Ola City Clinical Hospital and serve as chief external specialist in the field for the Ministry of Health of the Mari El Republic.

Clinical work remains the basis for everything else. I run lectures, masterclasses and procedure reviews in the same logic I use at the table: a specific case, the arguments, the course of the intervention and the result. The educational projects grew out of that practice.

Summits beyond medicine

President of the Triathlon Federation of the Mari El Republic since 2017 and founder of the IronForce triathlon studio. The same principle as in the profession: long preparation, calculation and the ability to see it through.

I do not simply enter races — I build the environment around them: a regional federation, my own studio and a team that lines up in the same kit. My medical projects work the same way: first a circle of people forms, then the results follow.

Open-water swimming, marathons, show jumping, shooting, bodybuilding, triathlon, mountain hiking. The script is always the same: a year of preparation for a few hours where improvisation is not an option. On a climb the decision follows the weather, the state of the group and the time left — exactly as at the table it follows the anatomy, the haemodynamics and the patient’s reserve.

That is what long operating days require: endurance, a cool head and the habit of preparing in advance rather than counting on luck. Partners see the same qualities in how I run the projects.
